Mark Leonard

Mark Leonard is a Los Angeles based painter with an extensive background in art restoration. His most recent body of work, a group of painstakingly executed ''visual weavings,'' seeks to explore the intimate links between love and loss. As the artist has written, ''interactions of these two experiences (form) the framework of our lives.'' Leonard's broad educational background includes a multi-disciplinary Bachelor's degree in Studio Art, Art History, and Chemistry from Oberlin College, and a Master's in Art History from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Leonard first worked as a restorer for The Metropolitan Museum of Art before spending twenty-six years at The J. Paul Getty Museum, with 12 of those years as the Head of Painting Conservation. In 2010, he returned to working full-time as an independent artist.
