Rafael Perea de la Cabada


Rafael Perea de la Cabada received his undergraduate degree from the National School of Painting, Sculpture, and Printmaking in Mexico City, and later earned his MFA from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Currently, Rafael teaches Advanced Painting and Drawing in the Fine Arts Department at Santa Barbara City College and is working on a Public Arts Commission with designer Richard Irvine for the City of Santa Barbara. Rafael's work is imbued with a creative spirit that explores culture, religion, and language. He is a self-described visual-poet, who uses mixed media and metaphors to create his captivating compositions, complex in both texture and visual language.
