Sublime Abstraction
About
Heather James Fine Art is pleased to present Sublime Abstraction, an exhibition that explores enduring artistic concerns with the transcendent and the ineffable, the awe-inspiring and the exalted.
The works in this exhibition were created by a diverse group of artists spanning a period of over seventy years following the end of World War II. Though they range from surrealist dreamscapes to massive contemporary sculptures composed of acrylic and steel, together they illustrate enduring artistic concerns with transcendence and questions about the fundamental nature of reality.
These works, through the language of visual abstraction, have the power to move, inspire, and transform their viewers through the simple act of looking. William Baziotes, Mary Corse, Wojciech Fangor, Helen Frankenthaler, Hans Hofmann, Morris Louis, Anish Kapoor, Robert Motherwell, Ad Reinhardt, Theodoros Stamos, and Pat Steir are among the artists represented in this exhibition.
