La vente aux enchères de novembre 2018 du "Grand tableau de rose, (près de la tombe de Van Gogh)" de Schnabel pour 1,2 million de dollars témoigne d'une forte demande pour l'œuvre de l'artiste. Cette vente majeure n'est que la deuxième plus importante vente aux enchères d'un Schnabel : le record a été établi en novembre 2017 lorsque le "Type ethnique n°14" s'est vendu pour 1,4 million de dollars.

Une exposition récente du musée en 2018, "Julian Schnabel : Symboles de la vie réelle" à la Légion d'honneur des musées des beaux-arts de San Francisco, présentait plusieurs des peintures de grande taille de Schnabel.
