Willem de Kooning, Woman in a Rowboat

PUBLISHED IN: Videos

Woman in a Rowboat is a seminal painting by de Kooning that relates to his second major series of Woman paintings begun in 1964. De Kooning returned to this subject matter at different periods of his career, and with each painting in the series, the women on the canvas became more abstracted as they melted into lines and colors. Woman in a Rowboatrepresents this new fluidity.
