Heather James Fine Art Presents a Special Book Signing with Nationally Acclaimed Classic Car Historian and TV Show Host Donald Osborne

Heather James Fine Art is hosting a book signing on January 26, from 5 to 7 p.m., with Donald Osborne, host of the CNBC Primetime show “Jay Leno’s Garage,” and author of the new book “Stile Transatlantico/ Transatlantic Style: A Romance of Chrome & Fins,” published by Coachbuilt Press. The book portrays the story of the fertile creative exchange between Italy and America in mid-century automotive design. Osborne is also the curator of the current exhibition at the gallery, Ferrari and Futurists – An Italian Look at Speed, that showcases four vintage Ferraris.

The four limited edition models in the exhibition encapsulate the speed, emotion, and personal connection of Ferrari, and are from the varied classic car collection of Don Murray. The Ferraris on exhibit include a 1950 Inter Berlinetta, a 1951 Ferrari 340 America Berlinetta, a 1956 Ferrari 250 GT Speciale PF, and a 1963 Ferrari 400 Superamerica.

During the event Osborne will share passages from the book, while discussing the cars in the exhibition in further detail. Notably, the book also includes evocative photographs by Michael Furman. Furman photographs the world’s most significant cars, creating portraits that capture the historical and aesthetic importance of classic automobiles, and within this book his photographs showcase some of the most iconic designs from both countries in the period. Free and open to the public, books will be available for $100 per copy, and light appetizers, wine, and other beverages will be served.

Osborne became well known as co-host for two seasons of the nationally broadcast TV show “What’s My Car Worth” on Discovery Channel’s Velocity network, and he has been an editor-at-large of Sports Car Market magazine and long-time contributor to publications including The New York Times, Business Week Online, The Wall Street Journal online, Hagerty’s Magazine, Art & Antiques and others. Osborne carries an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) designation of the American Society of Appraisers and is recognized by leading collectors, institutions and organizations in the United States, UK and Europe for his expertise in the inspection, evaluation, valuation, purchase and sale of vintage Italian, French, German, British, and American car. He travels the world attending major events, rallies and auctions, and he has served as a judge and emcee at some of the leading concours events in the country including the Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, Carmel-by-the-Sea Concours on the Avenue, Santa Fe Concorso, Concours of America at St. John’s and many more.
