LEON AUGUSTIN LHERMITTE (1844-1925)

LEON AUGUSTIN LHERMITTE Léon Augustin Lhermitte was a French painter and etcher known for his realistic depictions of rural life. Born in Mont-Saint-Père, France, he trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris under Alexandre Cabanel. Lhermitte focused on peasants working in the fields, farm life, and scenes of everyday labor, capturing naturalistic details and the effects of light with careful observation. His work was exhibited widely at the Paris Salon and earned him official recognition, including the Legion of Honor. He remained active as an artist until his death in Paris.
