CHARLES JOSEPH FREDERIC SOULACROIX (1825-1879)

CHARLES JOSEPH FREDERIC SOULACROIX Charles Joseph Frédéric Soulacroix was a French painter born in France in 1825. He trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, studying under prominent academic instructors of the period. Soulacroix worked primarily within the academic tradition, producing genre scenes and historical subjects that aligned with mid-19th-century French tastes. He later settled in Italy, where he spent much of his career and remained active in artistic circles in Florence. Soulacroix was the father of painter Frédéric Soulacroix (1858–1933), who also became known for genre painting. Charles Joseph Frédéric Soulacroix died in 1879.
