LISA YUSKAVAGE (b. 1962)

LISA YUSKAVAGE Lisa Yuskavage is an American painter known for figurative works that draw on art historical traditions, popular culture, and the conventions of representation. She was born in Philadelphia in 1962 and earned her BFA from the Tyler School of Art at Temple University, followed by an MFA from the Yale School of Art. Yuskavage rose to prominence in the 1990s and has been associated with a renewed interest in figurative painting in contemporary art. Her work is held in major museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. She lives and works in New York.
