REID CHRISTIE (b. 1951)
Reid Christie is a painter known for his interest in the interaction of light upon landscapes and wildlife. Influenced by the Hudson River School, Christie is interested in the way that light reflects, refracts, passes in, around, and through the landscape. According to the artist, "composition, design and lighting are integral in my work. I want my paintings to be never ending symphonies through which the viewer's eye keeps moving and never leaving."
Christie was born, raised, and educated in Wyoming, where he currently resides, and where he derives much of his inspiration. He has won many awards for his artwork, including the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation artist of the year. He has also shown his artwork in a number of museums across the country, including the National Museum of Wildlife Art, and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Museum.
