Von einem ungewöhnlich hohen Standpunkt aus gemalt, vermittelt "Riviera Coast Scene" anschaulich die gewaltige Entfernung und Weite der Szene von dem Platz aus, an dem er seine Staffelei aufgestellt hatte. Interessanterweise hat Paul Rafferty dieses Gemälde nicht in sein Buch Winston Churchill: Painting on the French Riviera nicht aufgenommen, da er der Meinung war, dass es sich um eine Szene aus dem italienischen Seengebiet handeln könnte, wo Churchill im gleichen Zeitraum ebenfalls malte.
